CURRENTLY THERE IS A HUGE SKILLS SHORTAGE IN THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY WITH THE INDUSTRY BEING PLACED IN THE TOP FIVE SECTORS REQUIRING EMPLOYEES, DUE TO SECTOR GROWTH, FROM 2018-2028. Right on our doorstep the Preston, South Ribble and Lancashire City Deal is investing more than £434million, creating 20,000 new jobs and building 17,000 new homes to improve the county. Construction companies across Lancashire continue to seek highly skilled people to fill a range of in demand roles. Over the past couple of years we have seen a boom in construction applications at Preston College, with additional classes and female only multiskills courses added to meet both demand and customer feedback. Our selection of Level 1 courses are ideal for those looking to develop their DIY skills further or study the basics of a trade alongside a full-time job, as well as those looking to take their first steps into a complete career change. For those already working in the sector, we are able to offer an array of Level 3, 4, 6 and 7 NVQs.
