social distancing considerations. But one thing is for certain, that if there is any industry that is likely to bounce back the quickest, it will be the hair and beauty industry. Its flexible and ever changing ahead-of-the-curve trends, its natural creativeness and sassiness, and the determination of the professionals means you won’t be able to hold this industry down for long. This growing sector proved successful in the wake of the 2008 recession and it will continue to play a valuable role in the UKs post-pandemic economic recovery. Fiona Birchett-Sharpe, Head of School for the Service Industries at Preston’s College adds: “In all my years working in this industry I have never experienced anything quite like this. But the way the sector has pulled together, risen to the challenges and come out fighting is commendable. We have worked with our partner employers throughout the lockdown; each of them facing their own challenges but I am thrilled to say that we’re back to business and if we as an industry can get through this – we can get through anything”.
