Students and barbers from across Lancashire were treated to a cutting edge showcase of the latest barbering techniques at Preston’s College, which hosted ‘The Great British Barber Bash’ on 7th March.

The Great British Barbering Team, which includes some of the UK’s biggest names and rising stars from the male grooming industry, gave a three hour presentation of the latest cuts, trends and techniques.

The event offered workshops, lessons, advice and inspiration and attracted more than 100 people including students from the college’s popular barbering and hairdressing courses.

Growing demand for skilled barbers in the region has led to increased numbers training for barbering qualifications at Preston’s College. According to industry statistics*, the North West is home to 12.6% of the UK’s hairdressing businesses, second only to London which accounts for 13.4%.

Julie Richmond, barbering and hairdressing lecturer at Preston’s College, said: “We pride ourselves on offering students extracurricular activities and events where they can be 1-2-1 with the best in the industry.

“There is strong demand for barbering skills and giving our students the chance to learn the latest techniques will get them ahead in future employment and make them stand out to employers.”
