COUNSELLING FAST TRACK - LEVEL 3 CERTIFICATE

Duration: 24 weeks
Level: Level 3
Last Updated: 16-11-23

This course is designed for people who are involved in some way with helping others. It aims to provide an opportunity to develop generic counselling skills which may be applied in a variety of contexts. This qualification offers a potential progression route to the Level 4 Counselling course or Foundation Degree in Counselling.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

The course is accredited by the awarding body Skills and Education Group Awards and will facilitate the acquisition of a defined range of counselling skills which will be effective in many work roles where interactions between people occur. It will also facilitate your understanding of the importance of using counselling skills ethically and within B.A.C.P’s Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy. It will also facilitate your understanding of the theory behind the Person-Centred Approach.

HOW WILL I BE TAUGHT?

This course promotes the development of self-awareness as it is not possible to help other people reassess their lives without having looked hard at oneself. This qualification does not entitle you to practice counselling professionally but can lead to the professional qualification.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

This course is assessed by the completion of three assignments, a Reflective Log and a Learning Statement. You are externally assessed on your use of counselling skills and are required to submit one tape and a case study.

WHAT CAN I DO NEXT?

Successful completion of the course will allow you to apply for the Level 4 Counselling course at Preston's College.

IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO KNOW?

An Advanced Learning Loan may be available to assist you in paying for your course fees.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants are required to have a Level 2 Counselling qualification prior to enrolment and will need to be able to handle the level of academic work required and show a willingness to take responsibility for oneself.
