T-LEVEL IN HEALTH (ADULT NURSING)

Duration: 2 years
Level: Level 3
Last Updated: 03-10-23

T-Levels are innovative new courses that combine technical learning, practical work and a minimum 45 day (315 hours) industry placement with a local employer to ensure you have relevant and real experience in the workplace.

This new qualification has been developed with employers within health and social industry to ensure you learn the skills, behaviours and knowledge that will make you the most employable, now and in the future.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

The content of the course is split into a core component, which is standard across all T-Levels, and an occupational specialism in adult nursing.

The core component provides a broad understanding of the health industry and covers a range of topics including: working within the health and science sector; principles of good scientific and clinical practice; providing person-centred care, supporting health and wellbeing; infection and prevention control; and core science concepts including the structure of cells, tissues and large molecules, genetics, microbiology and immunology.

The occupational specialism in adult nursing will allow you to develop the relevant skills in preparation for your career in health. The adult nursing specialism will cover topics specific to that aspect of the health industry.

HOW WILL I BE TAUGHT?

80% of your studies will be within the College, this will be either in a classroom where you will build theoretical knowledge, or in one of our specialist learning environments where you can develop your practical skills.

20% of the qualification will involve a 45 day (315 hours) industry placement with a local employer. During this time you will gain real work experience within the industry, placing you in a great position to progress into employment once you complete your T-Level qualification.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

You will complete formal assessments and examinations.

WHAT CAN I DO NEXT?

T-Levels are equivalent to three A-Levels. Gaining a T-Level can help you with progression onto higher study, Apprenticeships or into skilled employment. Your T-Level will also be worth UCAS points. A T-Level at grade Distinction* is worth the same as three A-Levels at A* and will be recognised by universities and other providers, meaning you have the option to continue your studies after college.

The career options available to you will depend on the specialist units you select. The Health Sector has a wide range of careers and jobs roles and you should speak to your tutor about your ambitions and identify the units most relevant to your chosen career. Career options could include working with teams in midwifery, adult nursing, mental health, therapy or as an ambulance support worker.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Learners require six GCSE passes at grades 9-4 and should have a strong passion for the T-Level subject. At least three of the passes should be at grade 5 or above, including maths, English Language and science*. A successful interview is also required. *Individual cases will be considered at the point of entry where the criteria has not been met.
