Workforce @ Preston’s College is our dedicated service providing opportunities for people who are not currently in employment to develop their skills and experience to help them on the path to a new career. We work closely with our partners, including Jobcentre Plus and employers to ensure that we provide the best advice and support that we can for people looking to take the next step back into work.
At Preston’s College, we’ve been working with local employers and listening to the local community to provide courses that will help you get ahead in your career. Whether you’re looking to progress from your current role, secure a new role with a new company or get back into work after a period of unemployment – we can help you take control of your career.
But that’s not all, we also have a range of courses to help with personal development, from lip reading for the hearing impaired, to creative writing and pottery classes – there really is something for everyone!
Our available courses are listed on the website but we’re adding new provision all the time so if you can’t find what you’re looking for email us, or call 01772 22 55 22.

If you’re looking for a route into university study but haven’t got A-Levels or equivalent qualifications, then an Access to H.E course may be the answer. These courses provide you with the knowledge and skills relating to your chosen subject area while also preparing you for university study. Each of our Access to H.E. courses offers a clear progression route into university level study either with us, or a university. Plus- all out Access to H.E. courses are fully fundable with a 24+ Advanced Learning Loan which is a Government backed, non means-tested loan. You don;t pay this back until you earn over £21,000 per year and if you study an Access to H.E course and then complete a university level course, you won’t need to pay it back at all!
If you are aged 24 or over and want to study A levels, an Access to Higher Education Diploma, a level 3 or 4 Certificate or Diploma, or an Advanced or Higher Apprenticeship, you will need to pay your college or training organisation for the cost of your course.
