TEACHING

Everyone remembers an inspirational teacher that influenced and shaped both their education and subsequent career. Teaching is a rewarding profession and as a teacher you may choose to work in either the public or private sector with in-house training, private tuition and consultation opportunities available.

Whether you are looking to enter the teaching profession as a first career, or wish to use your skills from a previous profession to bring added value to the classroom, you will need excellent communication, organisation and interpersonal skills.

To begin your career as a teacher you do not necessarily need a teaching qualification as you can gain the qualification whilst employed in the sector.

You will, however, need a qualification in the area you wish to teach at a suitable level. For example, to teach at Level 2 you will need a qualification at Level 3 or higher.

At Preston College we offer the Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) and the Certificate in Education, alongside the Education and Training Level 3 Award and Supporting Teaching and Learning (TA) qualifications.

Regardless of your chosen programme, you can expect to be taught through practical workshops, specialist speakers and classroom activities that go hand-in-hand with teaching practice.
