Ranjit SinghRanjit Singh

 

Previous High School: Tulketh Community Sports College

Course Studying: A Levels in Law, Film Studies, Photography and English Language and Literature.

 

Studying A Level Law at Preston College has made Ranjit sure that he wants to become a lawyer and work in a solicitor’s firm. As part of the enrichment programme Ranjit sits on the Learner Voice Student Council where he represents student's views.

 

Ranjit says: "I chose Preston College because I knew that they had extremely good exam results and the subjects I wanted to do were very well reviewed. The teachers play a huge part in the course and they are so helpful and great at teaching. My personal tutor has supported me and has been a great help throughout my time in College, keeping me extremely motivated and she always helps me when I need it.”

 

What would you tell a student considering Preston College? It’s an enjoyable place with friendly people. When work is set, make sure it gets done.

 

 


Jonathan SimpsonJonathan Simpson

 

Previous High School: Hutton Grammar School

Course Studying: BTEC National Certificate in Health and Social Care

 

Jonathan hopes to become a Counsellor and is a student taking part in the Cadetshipoffered by the NHS. Recently, Jonathan won the NHS Cadet of the Year.

 

Jonathan says: "I chose Preston College as it is the best place for my course. I have received a lot of help and advice from teachers and would describe my course as hard but fun. Alongside my course I take badminton as part of my Enrichment activities."

 

What would you tell a student considering Preston College? It is fun but hard work.There is a diversity of students and staff!

Previous High School: Garstang High School

 

Course Studying: National Diploma in Business

 

Samantha hopes to go to university and study law to achieve her ambition of becoming a Solicitor. Participating in a wide range of enrichment activities, Samantha has gained experience in business through enterprise week and the Voltage project with Lancaster University.

 

Samantha says: “I find my course fun, interesting and supportive. I really admire my teachers who have supported me throughout my course. My greatest achievement was being voted Student of the Year and winning the Voltage Project (the Voltage Project was a social enterprise competition run by Lancaster University. A team of students entered from the Business Academy to raise money for their local community) with the most outstanding social enterprise."

 

What would you tell a student considering Preston College? It’s life changing It’s really fun The teachers are very supportive

Previous High School: Moor Park Business and Enterprise School

 

Course Studying: Level 2 Diploma in Fashion Retail

 

Liam hopes to go to UCLan and become a stylist, eventually working in the retail environment.

 

Liam says: "I enjoy everything about my course, especially styling. It’s interesting, exciting and passing it is my greatest achievement at Preston College."

Course Studying: BTEC National Certificate in Public Services

 

Lyndsey wants to work as a climbing instructor in Preston and Lancaster; climbinghas been part of her enrichment activities.


Lyndsey says: "I chose Preston College as I liked the open day classes I went to and friends told me that it is a good college. My course is an enjoyable life experience - I enjoy the practical side of my course and working as a team. My greatest achievement has been completing the Army Residential."

Course Studying: NVQ Level 3 in Hospitality Supervision

 

Jonathan’s future is in the catering industry where he wants to work as a Restaurant Manager. But first he plans to go to UCLan to complete his studies. In this industry he admires Jamie Oliver and Gordon Ramsay.

 

Jonathan says: "The best thing about my course and my greatest achievement is going to work at Ascot. My course is hard work but brilliant, I would ultimately like to go to America and become a Restaurant Manager."

 

What would you tell a student considering Preston College? It is friendly, there is a lot of support and here is a wide range of courses

Course Studying:A Levels in English,Combined, Business Studies, Film Studies and General Studies.


One of Jamie's ambitions is to gain top A Level results to give him an edge over the competition throughout his career.

 

Jamie Says: I chose Preston College because there is a wide range of courses and top sports facilities. I have enjoyed my course and found that the teachers are very helpful and are always willing to go out of their way to help. I've made some unbelievable friends and my greatest achievement has been feeling confident in all my subjects ahead of my exams and gaining excellent AS results."

 

What would you tell a student considering Preston College? Don't write off the College without looking around and researching

Katie’s ambitions are to qualify on Level 3 in Beauty Therapy, go into the industry and open her own salon.

 

Katie says: "I enjoy carrying out all the treatments, the tutors and students are really friendly. I have received support from both my personal tutor and student support throughout my course.

Lindsay would like to work in a primary school, where she can support young students in the classroom and continue learning about children. After Preston College Lindsay hopes to continue her studies at either Manchester or Cumbria University.

 

Lindsay says: "My course is a new experience to school and is fun. I really enjoy working with children and learning all about them. My greatest achievements have been passing my units and my IT key skills."

 

What would you tell a student considering Preston College? It’s good, fun, but hard work too. There are so many different kinds of people that you are bound to make friends. Every day is different and exciting.

Jenny aspires to be a professional hockey player and plans to go to university after studying at Preston College. In her spare time she enjoys playing and coaching others in the sport.

 

Jenny says: "I chose Preston College because of the range of courses on offer and the great facilities. My course is practical and fun. After College I hope to go to The University of cumbria and study to become a PE teacher."

As a student governor Nadia represents students' views of the College. Nadia hopes to achieve three distinctions in her course and go to University. Studying the National Diploma in Business has given Nadia a choice of future careers and employment opportunities.

 

Nadia says: "I haven't decided what I would like to study at university yet, but I want to experience different jobs before I decide upon my future career. I have enjoyed everything about my time at Preston College including meeting the other students on my course, my teachers and the trips as part of enrichment."

Course Studying: BTEC National Diploma in Performing Arts (Musical Theatre)

 

Chelsey has ambitions of being a world star and winning the Professionalism Award in her Academy has shown she has got what it takes.

 

Chelsey says: "Winning the Professionalism Award really meant a lot to me. I want to work on the stage and become a world star. After Preston College I want to go to the Guildford School of Acting. This course was ideal for me as I wanted to study dancing, singing and acting. My personal tutor has been brilliant she has always been there to help with work or any problems."

Course Studying: Introductory Welding and Fabrication Skills

 

This year Ryan will complete his course and begin his career in the welding industry. He admires his tutor Alf Armstrong and has found all the teaching staff at Preston College supportive and helpful.

 

Ryan says: "I chose Preston College because it has a good pass rate and my course is very practical and enjoyable. Sometimes the course is
challenging and a bit hot, but it is also fun."

Course Studying: NVQ Level 2 in Hairdressing

 

Saira sees her future owning her own salon in London or Lancashire. She also wants to teach others the skills she has learnt and put them into practice.

 

Saira says: "I chose Preston College as it is really good for hair and beauty courses. I enjoy everything about my course and find it fun and interesting. I have received lots of support from the hairdressing staff and my personal tutor. Which has helped me successfully complete my course."

 

What would you tell a student considering Preston College? I like everything about Preston College, you get to meet new people, all the staff are very helpful and supportive and I really enjoyed my course.
