The Counselling Service

Counselling for students

We offer a confidential Counselling Service to all full and part time students at Preston College in a non-judgemental atmosphere.

Counselling is a confidential space for you to talk about issues which may be difficult to share with anyone else. It is about being accepted.

As professional and experienced counsellors we can support by listening and exploring with you ways of coping or resolving difficult issues such as relationship difficulties, traumatic experiences including abuse, concerns about academic work, sexuality, bullying, depression and anxiety. This is just a guide so don't worry if your concern is not on the list, if something worries you we will be happy to talk it through with you. No problem is too big or too small for counselling.

We can also give information if you need to contact other support agencies for advice.

How do I book an appointment with a counsellor?

Counselling is available to Preston College students through Student Services, based in MG7 at Fulwood Campus. Appointments can be arranged through Student Services by phoning 01772 225656, or emailing Debbie here, or Jan here. If you are not based at the Fulwood Campus, please contact us by phone or email to discuss the options that may be available.

A daily ‘Drop in’ service is also available, this is not a counselling appointment but gives you an opportunity to talk confidentially to a counsellor for up to 15 minutes.

On your first appointment / Drop in we will explain our policy on confidentiality to you.
