The College

External Funding

Most of the Preston Colleges' courses are funded by the British Government through the Learning and Skills Council (LSC). However there are some things that the LSC can't pay for and external funding from the EU or other sources helps the College to fill this gap.

Over the past few years externally funded projects at Preston College have improved literacy and numeracy and employability skills within community groups, given businesses the opportunity to upgrade their employees qualifications and have actively engaged new learners.

Where does the money come from?

The majority of our funding comes from the European Union through the European Social Fund (ESF) or the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) but we also receive funding from UK sources such as the Single Regeneration Budget (SRB), the Neighbourhood Renewal Fund (NRF) and the North West Development Agency (NWDA). In addition, we receive a number of one-off grants targeting specific areas for intervention or educational research.
