iTunes U Support

iTunesUPreston College was the FIRST college in England to launch its very own iTunes U store and

All staff at Preston College have a responsibility to develop content in the format of podcasts. This page is here to support staff in their development of this content. On the right hand side you will see an option to download a guide into iTunes U at Preston College. This is a good starting point for any staff wishing to begin developing content for iTunes U.

To discuss iTunes U in more detail, please make an appointment to visit the E-Learning Development Team, you can contact them on 01772 225575 or email them using the CONTACT FORM.

Getting Started:

It is important all college staff embrace the iTunes U Preston College area as it is a very prestigious and high profile project to be a part of, therefore, we need to make sure we develop enough, good quality, podcasts on a regular basis to keep our standards high and be at the forefront of mobile learning.

To start developing podcasts, please read through the guide on the right and then consider what you can develop as stand-alone learning resources. These resources will not only enhance our iTunes U area, it will enhance your MyCourse pages, classroom teaching and help you save time.

Video Podcasts:

Video PodcastIf you plan to develop a video podcast, all you need is a video camera. If you don't have access to a camera, drop-in to the E-Learning Team and they will be able to loan you one. Simply record your podcast and pass it on. The E-Learning Team will do the rest. The only thing left for you to do is complete the PODCAST PROFORMA, which helps the team put the podcast in the right place. Making a video podcast is much easier than you think.

Audio Podcasts:

Audio PodcastAgain, this is a straight forward process. Simply record your audio using a digital dictaphone or your computer and the E-Learning Team will do the rest. If you are unsure, staff development sessions will be available whether it be one-to-one or as part of an ongoing programme.

Screen Capture:

Developing a podcast where you need to demonstrate something onscreen is a little more complicated but its still possible. Speak to the E-Learning Team for advice and guidance.

"How to" Guides:

In the next few weeks, guides on how to use certain types of equipment will become available on this page. If you are struggling using a particular piece of equipment, browse here for a solution or visit the E-Learning Team in ITF01 (PC Place), Fulwood Campus.
