PRESTON COLLEGE today announced its educational content is now available on iTunes U, a dedicated area of the iTunes Store (www.itunes.co.uk) that offers free audio and video content from leading educational institutions.
Podcasts and videos from lecturers and staff across Preston College will be available for current and potential students to download for free through the iTunes store, leading to an enhanced learning experience.
The College launched its site with the help of 'good luck' video messages from stars such as Britain's Got Talent winner George Sampson, and ex-Atomic Kitten singer Liz McLarnon, all filmed by media students during a recent Children in Need show in Blackpool.
The launch of the iTunesU site ties in with a host of recent e-learning developments at the College including a website revamp and the creation of apps for the iPhone and iPod touch to allow more interactive teaching methods.
Matt Fawcett, director of service industries at Preston College who was behind the project said:
"The idea behind our presence on iTunesU is to deliver education through innovative and creative mediums to allow students to access materials at any time, using a service many are already familiar with.
"Students and potential students will be able to access lectures, presentations, information videos and podcasts as well as interviews and our course literature all through one easy to access portal.
"It is important that education changes with the times and I am pleased to see Preston College leading that change and demonstrating the opportunities to others.
"We have made sure that the content provided through our iTunesU presence is high quality, accurate and appealing as this is really a shop window for the world to see the quality of teaching and learning here at Preston College."
The Preston College iTunesU site will also allow students on its range of courses to showcase their work through podcasts and videos uploaded to the portal.
