Introduction

If you want a career in the Barbering industry then this Apprenticeship is for you. The Barbering Apprenticeship offers a combination of qualifications, that will equip you with the skills and knowledge you need to work as a Barber. The course will cover all the practical and theory aspects of barbering such as shampooing and conditioning, style and finishing hair, consulting with clients and colouring and cutting. To undertake an Apprenticeship in Barbering, you must be committed, have a keen interest in hair and have the determination and motivation to succeed.

Programme Levels:

Apprenticeship - Diploma in Barbering Level 2

You will also undertake Key Skills alongside the Diploma whilst attending college on a day release basis.

Programme Length

Apprenticeship in Barbering – 24 months

Course Content

Selection of units from the Barbering Apprenticeship:

• Follow health and safety practice in the salon
• Styling Men’s Hair
• Working in the hair industry
• Shampoo and condition the hair and scalp
• Cut facial hair
• Cut men’s hair
• Colour hair and promote products and services to clients

Assessment

You will be assessed in one or more of the following ways:

• Course Work
• Exams
• Oral Questioning
• Portfolio of Evidence
• Practical Demonstration/Assignment
• Practical Examination
• Written Examination

Careers Progression

The Level Two Apprenticeship will give you the opportunity to progress on to the Level Three Advanced Apprenticeship in Barbering. Once you have completed the Apprenticeship, as a qualified Barber you will be equipped with the necessary skills and qualifications required for working within the hair industry opening a variety of employment opportunities.
