Introduction

 

If you want a career in the Beauty industry then this Apprenticeship is for you. The Beauty Therapy Apprenticeship offers a combination of qualifications, that will equip you with the skills and knowledge you need to work as a Beauty Therapist. This Apprenticeship is about improving people’s wellbeing by making them look and feel better. Beauty Therapy covers a range of treatments, from simple facials and make-up jobs to waxing. To undertake an Apprenticeship in Beauty/Spa Therapy or Nail Services, you must be committed, have a keen interest in beauty and have the determination and motivation to succeed.

 

Programme Levels:

 

Apprenticeship

  • Diploma in Beauty Therapy (General) Level 2 (NVQ)
  • Diploma in Nail Services Level 2 (NVQ)

 

Advanced Apprenticeship

  • Diploma in Beauty Therapy (Massage) Level 3 (NVQ)
  • Diploma in Spa Therapy NVQ Level 3

 

You will also undertake Key Skills alongside the Diploma whilst attending college on a day release basis.

 

Programme Length

 

Apprenticeship in Beauty Therapy – 12-18 months

 

Apprenticeship in Nail Services – 12 months

 

Advanced Apprenticeship in Beauty Therapy – 12 months

 

Advanced Apprenticeship in Spa Therapy – 12 months

 

Course Content

 

Selection of units for the Beauty Therapy Apprenticeships:

  • Ensure responsibility for actions to reduce risks to health and safety
  • Provide facial skin treatment
  • Enhance the appearance of eyebrows and eyelashes
  • Carry out waxing services
  • Provide body electrical treatments

 

Selection of units for the Spa Therapy Advanced Apprenticeship:

  • Provide body massage treatments
  • Provide stone therapy treatments
  • Monitor clients and the operation of sauna, steam and hydrotherapy treatments
  • Promote additional services or products to clients
  •  

    Selection of units for Nail Services Apprenticeships:

    • Provide manicure and pedicure services
    • Carry out nail art services
    • Enhance and maintain nails using UV gel or liquid and powder

     

    Assessment

     

    You will be assessed in one or more of the following ways:

     

    • Course Work
    • Exams
    • Oral Questioning
    • Portfolio of Evidence
    • Practical Demonstration/Assignment
    • Practical Examination
    • Written Examination

     

    Careers Progression

     

    The Level Two Apprenticeship will give you the opportunity to progress on to the Level Three Advanced Apprenticeship in Beauty Therapy. Once you have completed the Apprenticeship, as a qualified Beauty Therapist or Nail Technician you will be equipped with the necessary skills and qualifications required to secure employment in a beauty salon, leisure club, cruise ship or even as a make up artist.
