Introduction

 

If you want a career in Childcare then this Apprenticeship is for you. The Children and Young People’s Workforce Apprenticeship offers a combination of qualifications, that will equip you with the skills and knowledge you need to work in the Childcare industry.

 

Workers in this area make sure children are looked after, kept active, happy and nourished. They also help children develop social and practical skills. This Apprenticeship gives people a fulfilling opportunity to work with children and young people while also gaining an understanding into the how’s and whys of their development.

 

Programme Levels:

 

Apprenticeship – Certificate for the Children and Young People’s Workforce Level 2

 

Advanced Apprenticeship - Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce Level 3

 

You will also undertake Key Skills alongside the Diploma whilst attending College on a day release basis.

 

Programme Length

 

Apprenticeship for the Children and Young People’s Workforce – 12 months

 

Advanced Apprenticeship for the Children and Young People’s Workforce – 18 months

 

Course Content

 

Selection of units from the Children and Young People’s Workforce Apprenticeship:

 

  • Introduction to communication in health, social care or children and young people’s settings
  • Introduction to personal development in health, social care or children and young people’s settings
  • Introduction to equality and inclusion in health, social care or children and young people’s settings
  • Child and young person development
  • Safeguard the welfare of children and young people
  • Maintain and support relationships with children and young people
  • Support children and young people’s positive behaviour
  • Contribute to the support of child and young person’s development

 

Assessment

 

You will be assessed in one or more of the following ways:

 

  • Course Work
  • Exams
  • Oral Questioning
  • Portfolio of Evidence
  • Practical Demonstration/Assignment
  • Practical Examination
  • Written Examination

 

Careers Progression

 

Completion of the Advanced Apprenticeship will stand you in good stead for progression onto Higher Education or improved employment opportunities as a Nursery Nurse, Childminder or Senior Play Worker.
