Introduction

 

If you want a career in Logistics Operations then this Apprenticeship is for you. The Apprenticeship and Advanced Apprenticeship offers a combination of qualifications, that will equip you with the skills and knowledge you need to work in Logistics industry. As a Warehousing and Storage apprentice, you might learn skills in operating specialist machinery to get things onto – and down from – high storage spaces; learn about storing goods and improve your spatial awareness, so that you can quickly and efficiently load objects of different shapes and sizes.

 

Good teamwork is important in this role, especially when you’re working to a tight schedule, such as loading or unloading a lorry that can only wait for a little while before it needs to go on to the next job.

 

Programme Levels:

 

Apprenticeship – NVQ in Distribution, Warehousing and Storage Operation Level 2

 

Advanced Apprenticeship – NVQ in Logistics Operations Management Level 3

 

You will also undertake Key Skills and a Technical Certificate alongside the NVQ.

 

Programme Length

 

Apprenticeship in Distribution, Warehousing and Storage Operation – 12 Months

 

Advanced Apprenticeship in Logistics Operations Management – 12 months

 

Course Content

 

Selection of units from the Distribution, Warehousing and Storage Apprenticeship:

 

  • Maintain health, safety and security in logistics operations
  • Develop effective working relationships with colleagues in logistics operations
  • Provide customers with information and advice on goods and services
  • Operate equipment to perform work requirements
  • Move goods in logistics facilities
  • Receive goods from deliveries
  • Place goods in storage
  • Maintain the safety and quality of goods

 

Assessment

 

You will be assessed in one or more of the following ways:

 

  • Course Work
  • Exams
  • Oral Questioning
  • Portfolio of Evidence
  • Practical Demonstration/Assignment
  • Practical Examination
  • Written Examination

 

Careers Progression

 

Once you have completed the Apprenticeship you will be equipped with the necessary skills and qualifications required for working within the logistics industry leading to a variety of employment opportunities.
