Introduction

 

If you want a career in the Hairdressing industry then this Apprenticeship is for you. The Hairdressing Apprenticeship offers a combination of qualifications, that will equip you with the skills and knowledge you need to work as a Hairdresser. If you like meeting new people, have good communication skills along with patience and concentration and an interest in making people feel good about themselves then Hairdressing may be the career path for you.

 

To undertake an Apprenticeship in Hairdressing, you must be committed, have a keen interest in hair and have the determination and motivation to succeed.

 

Programme Levels:

 

Apprenticeship – Diploma in Hairdressing Level 2

 

Advanced Apprenticeship – Diploma in Hairdressing Level 3

 

You will also undertake Key Skills alongside the Diploma whilst attending college on a day release basis.

Apprenticeship in Hairdressing – 18 months

 

Advanced Apprenticeship in Hairdressing – 18 months

 

Course Content

 

Selection of units from the Hairdressing Apprenticeship:

 

  • Ensure your own actions reduce risks to Health & Safety
  • Give clients a positive impression of yourself and your organisation
  • Advise and consult with clients
  • Cut hair using basic techniques
  • Shampoo and condition hair and scalp
  • Style, dress and finish hair using basic techniques
  • Change hair colour using different techniques

 

Assessment

 

You will be assessed in one or more of the following ways:

 

  • Course Work
  • Exams
  • Oral Questioning
  • Portfolio of Evidence
  • Practical Demonstration/Assignment
  • Practical Examination
  • Written Examination

 

Careers Progression

 

The Level Two Apprenticeship will give you the opportunity to progress on to the Level Three Advanced Apprenticeship in Hairdressing. Once you have completed the Apprenticeship, as a qualified Hairdresser you will be equipped with the necessary skills and qualifications required for working within the hair industry opening a variety of employment opportunities.
