The A Level Art and Design course looks at a variety of media, materials and techniques and helps enthusiastic students understand how to develop a creative project. The course looks to discover your creativity and help you to research, explain and justify your choices. Areas you will study include:
This course is made up of 4 equally weighted units. The first year is a portfolio unit and an externally set exam. The second year is a personal study with a 2000 word written element and an externally set exam.
As well as the wide variety of sporting enrichment activities available to all students, there are opportunities for trips including department visits to Tate Liverpool and Paris. You will have the opportunity to take part in Art enrichments such as iTunes U and Vodcasting as well as additional art sessions were you can work on any project in a relaxed and supportive environment. You will have the chance to work with externally set briefs or live projects such as filmmaking, animation or magazine design.
An A Level in Art and Design will support and strengthen your progression to a art foundation course or a full creative degree such as Art, Graphics, Fashion Promotion, Textiles, Advertising or Illustration. It also provides the creative and practical skills required to start a career in a creative role within art studios, advertising agencies, design studios and media companies.
