37 GCSE points including GCSE Maths, Science and English Language at grade C or above.

 

Duration

 

2 Years.

 

Your Course:

 

Suitable for all students with a keen interest in people and their behaviour, A Level Psychology offers the chance to explore a range of concepts and theories relating to humans and their thoughts, emotions and actions. Units you will study include:

 

  • Introduction to Psychology (Key approaches, gender development and research methods)
  • Social Psychology, Cognitive Psychology and Individual Differences
  • Child Development and applied options (cognitive development, substance abuse and forensic psychology)
  • Approaches, debates and methods in Psychology

 

Assessment for this course is through examination.

 

Your Enrichment

 

As well as the wide variety of sporting enrichment activities available to all students, there are opportunities for trips including a visit to the British Science Museum/Freud’s Museum plus visits to the cognitive neuroscience department at Bangor University to further your understanding of psychological explanations of human behaviour.

 

Your Future

 

Psychology at A Level prepares you for Higher Education in a related discipline including degrees in Psychology, Psychiatry and Sports Psychology. The skills of analysis and exploration are also valuable for a degree in any discipline.
