37 GCSE points including a grade C in English Language.

Your Course:

 

Sociology is the study of changing society. It will help you to develop a wide range of perspectives and a critical approach to understanding issues affecting our day to day lives. Through research, debate and critiques, sociology helps you to better understand the society we live in today. Units you will study include:

 

  • Identity and ethnicity, nationality class and gender.
  • The education system
  • Sociology of religion
  • Crime and deviance
  • Theories of society

 

Assessment for this course is through externally set exams and coursework.

As well as the wide variety of sporting enrichment activities available to all students, there are opportunities for trips including a walking tour of Manchester, a trip to London and a trip to the model village in Saltaire, Yorkshire.
