Preston College Adult Course Guide 2022

CONSTRUCTION The construction industry is essential for our local economy and has been identified as a priority sector for Lancashire. Currently, there is a huge skills shortage in the construction industry, with the industry being placed in the top five sectors requiring employees, due to sector growth, from 2018-2028. This high demand for skilled people is also reflected in the generous starting salaries, with university graduates taking home an average salary per year of over £29,000 and a Site Manager, an average of over £49,000 per year. Right on our doorstep the Preston, South Ribble and Lancashire City Deal is investing more than £434million, creating 20,000 new jobs and building 17,000 new homes to improve the county. Construction companies across Lancashire continue to seek highly skilled people to fill a range of in-demand roles. 2021 saw a real boom in Construction applications at Preston College, with additional classes and a brand-new, female only multiskills course added to the portfolio, to meet both demand and customer feedback. Our vast selection of Level 1 courses are ideal for those looking to develop their DIY skills further or to study the basics of a trade alongside a full-time job, as well as those looking to take their first steps into a complete career change. If you already hold a Level 1 qualification or are working in the sector, we are able to offer an array of higher level qualifications with our higher level NVQs offering both on-the-job assessments and opportunities, upon successful completion, to apply for prestigious black and gold CSCS cards.
