Preston College Adult Course Guide 2022

COUNSELLING Counsellors play a crucial role in improving the health and wellbeing of our society. Working in confidential settings, counsellors work with a variety of people across a range of often challenging and complex issues. Ensuring practitioners have the self-reflection and resilience to support people as they work through these issues, is a common thread throughout all of the counselling courses at Preston College, from Level 2 to BSc (Hons). Counselling Services can be found in a variety of settings including schools, universities, colleges, GP surgeries, hospitals, in the workplace, addiction agencies, disability support groups and private practice. Sometimes counsellors will have dual roles, meaning counselling can often be a second career for many. For those looking to change career, you will begin your studies at Level 2 with opportunities, upon successful completion, to progress onto Level 3 and Level 4 study. If you already hold a Level 2 qualification, you may be able to fasttrack your way through Level 3 study this January, with our part-time, evening study programme.
