31 www.preston.ac.uk INTERVIEW PREPARATION THINGS TO REMEMBER:  Dress smartly and prepare your outfit the night before  Find out where the interview is taking place and plan your route the day before  Read the job and person specification to understand what is expected in the role  Prepare answers, with examples, to ensure you demonstrate the skills required  Stay calm, take your time, and speak clearly and confidently  Always answer truthfully and use examples  Sell yourself and your skills to the employers, keep things positive and focused  Prepare a few questions to ask the employer at the end of the interview  Make sure you know what is written on your own CV and are able to talk about it REMEMBER NOT TO:  Be late  Criticise former employers or colleagues  Slouch in your seat, or do anything that makes you look uninterested  Discuss controversial topics that are not relevant to the job role  Fail to attend your interview.
