PERFORMING ARTS & CREATIVE MAKE-UP TRAINING ACADEMIES Make-up for film, stage and television requires creativity and skill in special effects hair, make-up and prosthetics. It is a career behind the scenes that can take you all over the world. If you are looking to stay more local there are opportunities to work as a freelancer or in MediaCityUK in Salford and the Creative and Digital Quarters in Liverpool. As part of the Creative Make-up Training Academy (CMTA) at Preston College you will have the opportunity to learn from industry experienced tutors and develop your skills by supporting our Acting and Musical Theatre Training Academy performances. There are also opportunities to gain industry experience through our links with local employers. CREATIVE MAKE-UP TRAINING ACADEMY “ ” EVIE STUDIED Level 2 & 3 in Fashion, Theatre & Media Hair and Make-up DESTINATION Professional Diploma in Technical & Production Practice for the Creative Industries – Level 4 Evie joined Preston College from Canon Slade C of E School with aspirations to become a make-up artist for TV and film. At Preston College she has developed her skills at Level 2 and 3 and progressed to our Level 4 programme to expand her skills and experience. My Level 2 and 3 have given me knowledge and understanding in order to excel in what I do. My tutors have been really supportive and have pushed me when I needed it – especially during the WorldSkills competition. I’ve also completed a work placement doing make-up on a set. ALUMNI PROFILE At CMTA our ethos is to help and guide each make-up artist to achieve their potential and learn industry skills and set etiquette. We aim to instil our make-up artists with a willingness for continuous improvement through personal refection, the exploration and creative thought processes, and a desire to seek out and undertake new challenges to extend their capabilities. Overall our aim is to educate each make-up artist in an inspirational atmosphere to discover their strengths and to support them in their progression, whether that is freelancing, industry opportunities or university.
