You’ll need skills in problem solving, data analysis and presentation skills to collate the findings of your investigations into meaningful information. At Preston College you can study the T-Level in Science which provides a broad foundation of knowledge that can be applied to any science discipline. You will also benefit from our iSTEM Centre - home to dedicated science facilities and equipment. iSTEM houses a PCR machine which amplifies DNA, ultraviolet visible spectrophotometer, digital melting point apparatus, infrared spectrophotometer and forensic kits. *Course durations on Apprenticeships are given as a guide APPRENTICESHIPS LEVEL COURSE LENGTH* Laboratory Technician 3 2 years SCIENCE T-LEVEL IN SCIENCE You will gain a broad understanding of the science industry and study a range of topics including: managing information and data; principles of good scientific and clinical practice; scientific methodology; science concepts including the structure of cells, tissues and large molecules, genetics, microbiology and immunology; cell cycle and cellular respiration, enzyme and protein structure, pathogens, classification of biological materials, kinetic changes and relevant analytical techniques.
