Areas of employment include, but are not limited to: academia, research, food science, chemicals, criminal investigation, environmental science, geoscience, and healthcare sciences. You’ll need skills in problem solving, data analysis and presentation skills to collate the findings of your investigations into meaningful information. At Preston College you can study the T-Level in Science which provides a broad foundation of knowledge that can be applied to any science discipline. You will also benefit from our iSTEM Centre - home to dedicated science facilities and equipment. iSTEM houses a PCR machine which amplifies DNA, ultraviolet visible spectrophotometer, digital melting point apparatus, infrared spectrophotometer and forensic kits. *Course durations on Apprenticeships are given as a guide APPRENTICESHIPS LEVEL COURSE LENGTH* Laboratory Technician 3 2 years SCIENCE T-LEVEL IN SCIENCE You will gain a broad understanding of the science industry and study a range of topics including: managing information and data; principles of good scientific and clinical practice; scientific methodology; science concepts including the structure of cells, tissues and large molecules, genetics, microbiology and immunology; cell cycle and cellular respiration, enzyme and protein structure, pathogens, classification of biological materials, kinetic changes and relevant analytical techniques.
