Preston College Higher Education Prospectus

COUNSELLING Working in confidential settings, counsellors work with a variety of people across a range of often challenging and complex issues. Ensuring practitioners have the self-reflection and resilience to support people as they work through these issues is a key element of both the Foundation degree and BSc (Hons) Top-Up. Counselling Services can be found in a range of settings including schools, universities, colleges, GP surgeries, hospitals, in the workplace, addiction agencies, disability support groups or private practice. Sometimes counsellors will have dual roles, such as a nurse, teacher or advice worker. As a result of these dual roles, counselling can often be a second career. At Preston College our Foundation degree and BSc (Hons) degree are awarded by the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) and focus on the person centred model of counselling theory and practice.
