“I have a keen interest in planes and aerospace, so as soon as I found out about the opportunity to come to do my industry placement at Westair I instantly put my name down. After college I am hoping to go to university to study aeronautical and progress from there. Or, I’m really keen to working at BAE on their Fighter Jets. Because of the industry placement I know how to land a plane! I understand some of the controls, how a plane works and how you can fly it. We get shown how the planes work and all the different systems. The course I’m on is not like the other forms of study. There are no exams. I’m learning hands on as well as learning the theory behind it. We do things like lock wiring and riveting and then we put that into practice on the aircrafts. I’ve always wanted to be a pilot, but by doing this course I’ve realised I like working on all aircrafts and finding out how they fly and work. I’ve always known about Preston College, I live in Preston, so when I found out about the Aeronautical Engineering course and how close the college is to my doorstep - it was a definite for me!” Rose Level 3 Aeronautical Engineering
