We regard training employees as essential to enable them to fulfil their potential and ensure the success of our business. Encouraging training and development, and supporting employees as they undertake further education is a core principle of Leyland Trucks and through our approach a high percentage of employees have qualifications and training that has allowed them to progress to roles with greater responsibilities. The company’s Assisted Studies policy enables employees to apply for both finance and time to further their education. All employees can request support under the policy, provided it offers a benefit to both the individual and the business. Supporting such staff development has helped ensure that the business has the skills necessary for the future and improved staff engagement within the business. The higher education courses on offer at Preston College meet the needs of our business and allow for a straightforward transition onto degree programmes for those that want to progress their education further. Due to the strong relationships Leyland Trucks fosters with Preston College, employees can get advice directly from the heads of various schools if they are uncertain about any course.
