This position is a level 2 position which will provide the right candidate with the opportunity to work and gain experience in a school environment. The main role will include:

  • Meeting with training provider and completing assignments on time
  • To attend team meetings and participate in sharing ideas
  • Under supervision provide all aspects of care for children including washing and changing
  • To assist with meeting the personal, social and emotional needs of individual children
  • To provide adult interaction with children in the school.
  • To attend all training relevant to the role and deemed appropriate by the manager/training provider
  • To be aware of the school’s confidentiality policy and all other policies the manager deems appropriate. To respect the confidentiality of all information received
  • Support all staff and engage in a good staff team
  • To attend out of working hours activities, when appropriate e.g. training, fundraising events etc.
  • Contribute to good standards of safety, hygiene and cleanliness in the school
  • To undertake such other duties and responsibilities of an equivalent nature, as may be determined by the trainee’s supervisor from time-to-time
  • Look upon the school as a “whole” where can your help be most utilised? Be constantly aware of the needs of children
  • To ensure the provision of a high-quality environment to meet the needs of all individual children
  • To be aware of all emergency and fire evacuation procedures
  • To be aware of sections 7 and 8 of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974


Hourly Rate: £4.00

Working hours per week

31.25 hours per week: Monday to Friday 08:30 – 15:30 (includes work in the Breakfast & After school club)

Required Qualifications

  • GCSE’s in Maths and English Grades A – C or equivalent
  • Candidates will attend an initial Assessment in Maths, English & IT (if applicable) at Preston’s college and may be required to complete Maths & English Functional Skills alongside their course if they do not have GCSE’s grade D or above.
