This course provides you an opportunity to gain broad knowledge and understanding of, and develop skills in the Information and Creative Technology sector. Our Information and Creative Technology college course will help you take the first step towards a future in the dynamic digital industry. 

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

The units on this course give you the chance to acquire some of the practical skills identified by employers as fundamental building blocks for future competence in workplace. Units include:

  • Technology systems
  • The Online World
  • Digital Portfolio
  • Website Development
  • Mobile app Development
  • Digital graphics
  • Animation

These units will give you valuable insight and inspiration to pursue further study and work in this field. You will develop a range of software skills such as making your own website, creating an animation on Adobe Animate and developing your very own Mobile Application. This course will encourage you to move beyond your comfort zone and establish skills and processes that you will be able to apply independently in the future.

HOW WILL I BE TAUGHT?

You will be taught by experienced tutors who will provide theory sessions to develop your understanding of ICT. Your coursework and assignments are inspired by real-world events and aim to emulate working practices in the industry.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

Assessment will be by assignments, presentations, observation of practical work and written reports. There will also be externally assessed units which will be a mixture of timed exams and timed set tasks depending on the units. Exam access arrangements are available for all students who need support through the formal exam process so everybody has an equal chance to achieve the grade they are capable of.

WHAT CAN I DO NEXT?

This one year course provides an excellent foundation for further study or employment. You could progress to the Level 3 ICT Practitioners course at Preston College. Alternatively, you may seek employment as an IT Apprentice or trainee in fields such as PC support, PC repair or web development. Some students also progress on to other digital courses such as Level 3 Games and Graphics.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

You need four GCSEs at grade 3 (D) or above including English Language and maths.
