This qualification is awarded by the University of Arts London, a top six world ranking university for art and design. If you want to work in photography, film or television production then this practical course will give you the skills and knowledge you need to start your career.

Technology is a critical aspect of the Film & Photography industry so our philosophy is to expose students to as many resources as possible. You will complete projects using our purpose built TV studio, with industry standard Black Magic studio cameras and live editing mixer. Image capture will be taught in multiple formats utilising our DSLR cameras, Ronin Gimbal Stabilisers, Camera Crane and 360 degree camera to produce exciting professional film outcomes. We have a classroom based photography studio, a standalone studio and a theatre for still image capture. Our students also contribute towards our student led film production company; Park Productions, with films produced sent to film festivals to gain potential IMDB credits, plus our Re:Play web show hosted in our TV studio. We also annually enter teams for the international World Skills Media competition which demonstrates the quality of our provision reaching the national finals and achieving Silver and Bronze awards.

Throughout the year we have a range of National and International Trips, including London, Berlin and Paris, industry talks and projects set by external clients and at the end of the year we look forward to our End of Year Oscar’s celebration event. Furthermore, not only do you get experience in one field, but two, as you will study both Film and Photography in this unique course, giving you that extra edge over your competitors!

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

There are no exams on our course! You will be assessed throughout the year via practical, creative projects that cover the range of skills needed to progress in industry. These include creating short films, advertisement campaigns, music videos, documentary filmmaking and photography, and visual and audio for television and film, before a final, self-directed project of your own choosing, where you are free to show off what you have learnt.

IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO KNOW?

You will need basic stationery, headphones, USB memory stick and an SD card. External hard drives would be an advantage but are not essential.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

You need five GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade 9-4 including a GCSE at minimum grade 4 (C) in either English Language or maths with a minimum grade 3 for the other subject. You’ll also need either a grade 4 or above in a Media related subject OR be able to show examples of your own Photographic or filming work via portfolio or digitally during interview. If you have experience of Photoshop and Premiere it would beneficial but it isn't essential.
