This course is the basic Gas Safety Course which is the minimum requirement for anyone wishing to register with Gas Safe Register. The course is aimed at gas fitters wishing to become Gas Safe Registered professional heating installers who work in domestic properties.

A re-assessment of (CCN1) Domestic Gas Safety, which is required every five years, is also available at a reduced cost.

What will I learn?

Training is available if required at an extra cost and covers:

Initial Core Domestic Gas Safety (CCN1):

  • Gas safety regulations and other relevant legislation
  • Combustion, relevant pressures and gas rates
  • Gas pipe work
  • Tightness testing and purging, including low and medium pressure
  • Chimney systems recognition and testing
  • Ventilation
  • Gas controls
  • Flue gas analysis

Initial appliances training covers:

  • Installation
  • Commissioning
  • Servicing and maintenance
  • Basic gas safety fault finding

How will I be taught?

You will be taught by experienced and supportive tutors.

How will I be assessed?

Candidates will complete a series of written and practical assessments.

Our gas programmes can be delivered throughout the year. You are advised to get in touch to discuss how your individual assessment and training package can be put together.

Is there anything else I need to know?

Candidates may consider looking to add appliances such as (CKR1) Cookers, (HTR1) Fires & Heaters, (CENWAT) Heating Boilers or (MET1) Gas Meters.

Entry Requirements

The CCN1 gas course (training & assessment) is available for operatives who have previously held the Core Domestic Natural Gas Safety (CCN1) qualification but have let it expire more than 12 months ago. This gas safety course is also available to candidates who have completed a managed learning programme and have verifiable on-site experience gained under the supervision of an existing Gas Safe Registered operative. For re-assessment, candidates must already be accredited with (CNN1) Domestic Gas Safety.
