This course is aimed at instructors and personal trainers wishing to acquire an understanding of the theory and application of safe, effective and fun studio cycle instruction. Studio cycling is an amazing cardiovascular workout, which predominantly uses the large leg muscles of the body and provides a highly calorific workout.
Studio cycling is a studio based, group exercise class, which is suitable for all levels of participant. Studio cycle classes will lead to increased CV fitness, lung capacity, energy levels and increased metabolism. As a studio cycle instructor you will be qualified to teach your own group cycling classes using any type/make of studio cycle. You will be able to effectively size up the perfect cycle position for any participant and deliver a safe and highly effective fitness session using specific cycling techniques.
You will study the following: How to design and teach safe and effective group indoor cycling sessions, Benefits of studio cycling, Working with music, Motivating participants, A variety of group teaching skills, Cycle set up and safe cycling technique and How to respond to health and safety issues.

You will be assessed by completing the following:
- 1 x plan and prepare a studio cycling session
- 1 x Instruct a studio cycling session
- 1 x practically assessed teaching observation on day tw
On successful completion of the course you will achieve an Award in Group Indoor Cycling. This qualification allows you to teach group fitness classes in studio cycling. You can further progress onto: Level 2 Certificate Fitness Instructing – Gym, ETM and/or Children, Level 2 Award in Circuit Training, Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training (with Gym Based Level 2 only) or Level 3 Diploma in Exercise Referral.
You will also gain 16 REPS CPD points.
You must be in possession of a Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing qualification, or other qualification recognised by the National Qualification Framework (NQF) or Qualification Credit Framework (QCF) and have experience of attending studio cycling classes. You must also attend an interview.
