The hard work and training, which is undertaken in the studio, is only part of a dancers training and must be complimented with a wide variety of extra curricular activities.
Learners are all encouraged to take part in the following performance based productions:
This is an in-house production choreographed and produced by our resident tutors and performed in Preston’s College Black Box Theatre. For our first year students this is an introduction to performing to an audience and demonstrating skills learnt within their first term.
This production gives students the chance to demonstrate their skills as choreographers, enabling them to express their own creativity and explore new ideas. Learners are all expected to be involved whether it be as a choreographer or performer. This production takes place at Preston’s Charter Theatre.
Many professional dancers also work as models in between dance contracts and this production gives learners the opportunity to experience working as cat walk models showcasing the work of Preston’s College own fashion design students.
End of Year Production
This event is a culmination of all the hard work undertaken by staff and students throughout the year and is the pinnacle of the Dance Academy’s calendar. The team of resident dance staff produce and direct the show with input from external choreographers and industry professionals, all of which adds to the learning experience.
Foundation Degree Show
This production is specifically for our Foundation Degree students to showcase their choreography whilst also being assessed. The show is held at one of Preston’s theatres.
