Maths and English

Maths and English qualifications are vital for success in a host of Childcare, Early Years and Teaching Assistant roles. It is essential that you not only have the skills and knowledge needed to support the children you are working with but also the confidence to do so effectively.

As a result, to join the Level 2 Children and Young People’s Workforce programme, you will need a minimum of a Level 1 in English and Maths and must already be working towards achieving your Level 2.

To progress onto the Level 3 Early Years Educator programme here at Preston’s College, you must hold a Level 2 qualification in English and as a minimum, must be working towards Level 2 in Maths.

For those considering employment as a Teaching Assistant, the Level 2 course requires you to hold a Level 2 qualification in English, with entry onto the Level 3 course requiring you to hold a Level 2 qualification in both Maths and English.

Preston’s College can support you in achieving the qualifications and outcomes you need to progress your education and future career. Even better, if you do not already hold a GCSE grade 4 (previously grade C) or above, in the subject that you wish to study, the course will be free!*
