WELDING AND METAL FABRICATOR APPRENTICE

As an apprentice, your job purpose will be to weld and fabricate sheet metal to the required company standards. Your specific responsibilities will be, but not exhaustive to:

  • Undertake Training Programme for MIG & TIG
  • Interpret company documentation – drawings and job cards
  • Set up welding plant correctly and safely for work to be carried out
  • Ensure extraction is correctly utilised at all times
  • Check dimensions and quality of work in accordance with drawing and job card instructions
  • Ensure finished items are stacked safely on appropriate pallets
  • Keep work area tidy and free from hazards
  • Ensure adherence at all times to the Company’s Quality Assurance Policies and Procedures and maintain compliance to appropriate standards
  • Carry out work safely in the interests of other employees and themselves, in compliance with current legislation and Company Environmental, Health and Safety procedures including general housekeeping
  • Any other tasks associated with this role, which are suited to the individual’s abilities and level of training as directed by the Line Manager

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Mathematics and English GCSE level or equivalent/Basic Literacy and Numeracy

FUTURE PROSPECTS

On successful completion of your apprenticeship, you could work full time as an MIG welder or MIG and TIG welder

There are also other areas in the factory where a successful applicant could train and as an experienced full time member of staff you are welcome to apply for career progression through roles such as a supervisor role. Should any further apprenticeships be offered at a higher level, these can also be applied for.
