The MOST Spring/Summer 2021

EMPLOYER AWARDS 2021 It was with the greatest of pleasures that earlier in the year we were able to announce the winners of the 2021 Employer Awards at Preston’s College. Sadly, face to face presentations were unable to take place due to Covid restrictions, however we managed to catch up with the Exceptional Awards Winners via a celebratory Zoom call. Exceptional Employer Award winners 2021 are: > Eric Wright Construction > Taylor Wimpey Plc > P Curley Construction Ltd > John Turner Construction Group Ltd > Lancashire Constabulary > Hair By Clare Ashton > Premier Hose Technologies Ltd > Leyland Trucks Ltd At the time of the event, Principal Lis Smith said: “Our Employer Awards recognise the contribution, impact and success of partner employers and organisations, and allow us to celebrate and promote the incredible work that they do in support of apprentices and our college community. After what has been, and in many ways still is an incredibly challenging year, we would like to thank all of our employer partners as they have all shown great resilience and a remarkable level of support to our learners through what is a very unique moment in time. However, there have been some real stand-out employers that have gone above and beyond what we could have ever expected of them. College staff have been involved in nominating their stand out employers, and together with our Head of Apprenticeships, Linzi Monks we have had the privilege of choosing the winners, against a set of criteria.” Jane Ward, Apprenticeship Officer at Lancashire Constabulary says: “Lancashire Constabulary have really appreciated all the support offered by Preston’s College and would not have received the Exceptional Employer status without their advice and guidance. We are still new to the apprenticeship arena and will continue to benefit from the fantastic relationship we have.” Brennan Gourdie, Managing Director at Leyland Trucks Ltd says: “Preston’s College has been a great partner in our apprentice programme over the recent years. Together we were able to keep the programme running and our apprentices progressing despite the Covid lock-downs.” Chris Huntbatch, Operations Manager at Premier Hose Technologies added: “The last 12 months have been extremely challenging for most businesses. As a small organisation, we have had to react quickly to the ever changing situation. Our Exceptional Employer Award winners accepting their awards via Zoom | 18
