Making the decision to return to college in 2015, Lisa enrolled on the Level 1 Caring for Children course at Preston College. Describing this decision as a ‘mid-life crisis’ and never really imagining that she would work with children, enjoying the course immensely, Lisa decided to progress her studies, continuing onto the Level 2 Children and Young People’s Workforce. As part of this one year programme Lisa undertook a voluntary placement at Cottam Nursery and impressed the team so much, she was offered a full-time position with the nursery. Upon successful completion of her Level 2 qualification, Lisa commenced employment at the nursery and was able to progress onto the Level 3 Early Years Educator course. Having worked at the nursery for five years, Lisa is now training to be a SENDCO and has recently been promoted to Deputy Manager!
