26 www.preston.ac.uk With a desire to learn how to make clothing that fitted well, Christine joined the Sewing Skills course at Preston College, learning how to create garments from commercial patterns. Keen to take her skills and knowledge further, Christine joined the Cutting and Fitting – Dress Design programme, a course which allows learners to create clothing that fits their own measurements. Beginning with the creation of a toile, before adapting it to make a block, successful completion of the course will allow Christine to confidently make a range of garments from an adapted pattern. Learning from tutor Jennifer, who Christine describes as both fantastic and inspirational, Christine is enjoying the programme, where she has made friends for life.
