31 www.preston.ac.uk ENGINEERING “ ALUMNI PROFILE ” SPENCER STUDIED Level 3 Aeronautical Engineering DESTINATION Degree Apprenticeship in Aerospace Engineering Spencer joined Preston College from Hutton Grammar School, Spencer has always wanted to work in the aeronautical industry and is now progressing to degree level study as an apprentice. I started this course hoping to gain the qualifications I needed to start an apprenticeship in aerospace engineering and I have achieved this. I have had to push myself and work hard. I have had some great help and advice from my tutors, who kept me on track. During my time at Preston College, I have completed an industry placement at UK aviation and learnt many skills. It has given me even more passion for aviation and aerospace. DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER As a design and development engineer, you’ll find opportunities in a range of areas including steam, aeronautical, turbine, marine, electrical, mechanical, vehicle and ship structures, plant, and machinery equipment, building systems and services, and telecommunications equipment. As the world continues to evolve and innovate, there will always be opportunities out there for you to use your problem-solving skills to design and improve technologies across a range of industries. The T-Level in Engineering will help you to develop the skills you need to be a successful engineer and prepare you for your next step. Engineers are typically educated to degree level, so you will need to complete further study after college.
