From the School of Service Industries, two Level 2 hairdressing learners, Amy Banks and Jasmine Youles, have made it through to the regional heats in the Hairdressing category, whilst from the School of Visual and Performing Arts there are semi-finalists in three categories: Creative Media Make-Up, IT Software Solutions for Business and IT Software Solutions for Business: Foundation Skills. Head of School for Visual Performing Arts and Digital, Jane Tudor added: “It is absolutely fantastic that our students have made it through to the semi-finals. This is a testament to their talent and hard work and our dedicated and passionate staff, who want nothing more than to see them succeed.” PRESTON COLLEGE TAKES WORLDSKILLS UK BY STORM DOUBLE WIN AT THE EDUCATE NORTH AWARDS! Preston College has won two awards in this year’s Educate North Awards for Music and Performing Arts and Business Collaboration & Partnerships – HE/FE Sector. Simon Nixon, Principal and Chief Executive at Preston College says: “I am delighted to announce that Preston College has won these awards. Both awards show the diversity of what we do as a college, with music and performing arts being a particular area of great success. In addition, the strong employer partnerships we have developed really help us to ensure that our curriculum is impactful in meeting Local Skills needs.” AVA MAKES FASHION BREAKTHROUGH WITH GEORGE AT ASDA Preston College student Ava has been working with supermarket fashion brand George at ASDA to help launch its adapted clothing range, designed specifically to support self-dressing for young people and children with disabilities.
