HNC IN CONSTRUCTION AND THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT Awarded by Pearson THIS HNC: The HNC Construction and The Built Environment course allows you to develop as a professional, self-reflecting individual who is able to meet the demands of a variety of roles within the construction sector, in an ever changing world. Ideal for those wanting to continue their education through applied learning, the course will develop and challenge your knowledge, understanding and skills, whilst providing an experience of the breadth and depth of the sector that prepares you for further study or training. A flexible programme, designed to fit around work commitments, you can expect to study a range of modules, including Construction Technology, Science and Materials and Construction Practice and Management. Specialist and optional modules allow you to tailor your studies based upon your career aspirations, or current employment. Our lecturers are industry experienced and bring a wealth of knowledge to the classroom from their time working in the construction industry. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: Preston College operates a flexible admissions policy, welcoming applicants with a wide range of qualifications and/or experience, with each application assessed on its own merit. We also recognise prior learning/attainment (RPL) and experience, meaning it may be possible to map some of your existing qualifications against the modules for the HNC Construction qualification. If this applies to you, we will discuss this with you at the interview stage. For students who have recently been in education, we would expect an applicant to have 72 UCAS points (a 12 unit profile), which must be made up from one of the following: A-Levels: Two A-Level subjects or equivalent (grade B and grade C, minimum) BTEC Extended Diploma: Pass or Merit (grade MMP) BTEC Diploma: BTEC National Diploma/Certificate (grade DM) Pass Access Course: In a relevant occupational area (at Level 3) International Baccalaureate: H7 PLUS GCSE: English and Maths GCSE grade 4 (formerly grade C) or equivalent Other qualification/ requirements: 3-4 years of site/industrial experience is desirable IELTS 6.0 (5.5 in each skills area) 85% of learners feel they have been academically supported to meet their needs. 16
