WHAT WILL I LEARN? The HNC Construction and the Built Environment offers a selection of varied and relevant modules. All will need to be completed to achieve the full HNC. Level 4 core modules include: > Pearson Set Individual Project > Construction Technology > Science and Materials > Construction Practice and Management Specialist modules include: > Legal and Statutory Responsibilities in Construction > Construction Information (Drawing, Detailing, Specification) > Surveying, Measuring and Setting Out You will also study two optional modules. You will gain a thorough understanding of the technical, legal and scientific principles of construction, alongside management skills. PROGRESSION OPPORTUNITIES: The HNC Construction and the Built Environment qualification provides opportunities to progress onto the 3rd year of a 5-year part-time degree, studying Quantity Surveying, Building Surveying or Construction Project Management, provided a Merit profile is achieved. To progress, an additional application needs to be made. The course provides an introduction and an opportunity to those with an interest in developing a career in construction. It also provides an opportunity for those who want to enter the construction industry and who have a suitable academic background but little construction knowledge. HOWWILL I BE TAUGHT? As a learner on the HNC Construction and the Built Environment course, you will be taught via a blended learning approach. This consists of in-class teaching and online, remote learning. In class learning all takes place within the purpose built Construction Centre, home to dedicated industry standard facilities and replica workshops. HOWWILL I BE ASSESSED? Assessment occurs through a combination of assignments and activities, with a focus on the holistic development of practical, interpersonal and higher level skills. For many modules, the practical demonstration of skills is necessary, for other modules you will carry out your own research and analysis, working independently or as part of a team.
