BSC (HONS) IN PERSON CENTRED COUNSELLING & PSYCHOTHERAPY (TOP-UP) Awarded by University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) THIS DEGREE: The BSc (Hons) degree aims to enhance already held critical, analytical and reflective thinking skills, whilst developing your professional practice to work with increasingly complex client material. The one year top-up will further enhance your abilities to work responsively, as both an independent practitioner and an effective member of a multidisciplinary team, whist developing your knowledge and understanding of key counselling theories, topics and practice. Upon successful completion, you will graduate with a BSc (Hons) degree, providing progression opportunities within the industry or through a range of postgraduate training and professional development opportunities. To progress onto further study, an additional application needs to be made. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: Preston College operates a flexible admissions policy, welcoming applicants with a wide range of qualifications and/or experience, with each application assessed on its own merit. We also recognise prior learning/attainment (RPL) and experience, meaning it may be possible to map some of your existing qualifications against the modules for the BSc (Hons) Person Centred Counselling and Psychotherapy (Top-up). If this applies to you, we will discuss this with you at the interview stage. For students who have recently been in education, we would expect an applicant to have one of the following: Level 4 qualification: A degree qualification in any subject and a Level 4 Diploma in Counselling, or a Foundation degree in Counselling GCSE: English and Maths GCSE grade 4 (formerly grade C) or equivalent Other requirements: You will need to demonstrate that you are in current, suitable practice (a reference is required from a clinical supervisor) IELTS 6.0 (5.5 in each skills area) Admissions process: All applicants must complete an application form, participate in a group interview and have an enhanced DBS check This degree had a 100% achievement rate in academic year 2019/20! 26
