WHAT WILL I STUDY? As part of this degree you will study 120 credits, made up of four modules: > Enhancing Clinical Practice working with Children and Young People > Self, Group and Difference > Enterprising Practitioner > Professional Dissertation PROGRESSION OPPORTUNITIES: Upon successful completion of the degree, you may look to progress within industry or seek promotion in your existing role. The degree also provides the opportunity to continue your studies at postgraduate level, as well as providing opportunities to undertake additional training and professional development. To progress with any further study, an additional application needs to be made. HOWWILL I BE TAUGHT? This degree employs a range of teaching methods, which vary from module to module but typically include lectures, seminars, tutorials and online learning via resources on the virtual learning environment, Canvas. You will also be required to participate in reflective workshops, undertake placement activity, role-play and work both independently and in groups. HOWWILL I BE ASSESSED? Formative assessment is embedded throughout the programme with each module employing a maximum of two summative assessments. Assessment methods vary from module to module but include essay-based assessments, presentations, completion of placement hours and videos. In addition, you are required to complete 50 hours of clinical practice and 90 minutes per month of clinical supervision. You will also undertake 10 hours of personal counselling throughout the year. You are also required to attend a mandatory residential weekend, enhancing and supporting both learning and personal practice. USEFUL INFORMATION: Mode of study: 1 year, full-time Tuition fee: Year 1: (2022/23) £6,165 Location: Preston College, Fulwood Campus (except placement, personal counselling sessions and residential activity) Minimum numbers required for this course to run: 12 Additional Costs: There is a residential, which costs £300. Supervision costs are also incurred on this degree with a maximum fee of £40 per hour, with a minimum attendance of 1.5 hours per month. You may also be required to pay for personal counselling. You will also be required to pay a professional membership fee and the costs associated with obtaining Professional Indemnity Insurance Additional information: A group interview, to assess your interaction with others and your ability to demonstrate the values and qualities necessary in the counselling profession is required, as is an enhanced DBS check WHERE COULD THIS COURSE TAKE ME?
