MEET THE TUTOR EMMA “I have been working as a counsellor for over 10 years in a variety of settings so have a good range of experience. In addition to teaching on the degree here at Preston I run a private practice and also counsel in schools, colleges and local organisations; it keeps me pretty busy! Prior to training as a counsellor I spent 15 years teaching functional skills in prisons and colleges and then academic study skills in Higher Education. What I really enjoy about teaching is the interaction with students. I love being part of their journey of personal growth and witnessing their development into professional counsellors. The Counselling degree here at Preston College is a unique programme. The small group sizes create a relaxed environment which allows us to develop good relationships and foster a deep level of personal development. This small, supportive environment can feel more accessible to those who may have been out of education for a while.
