We usually consider an A-level in General Studies as a supplementary qualification. Applications from individuals with non-standard qualifications, relevant work or life experience, who can demonstrate the ability to cope with and benefit from degree-level studies, will also be considered. WHAT WILL I LEARN? Each module is a self-contained block of learning with defined aims, learning outcomes and assessments. A standard module is worth 20 credits. It equates to the learning activity expected from one sixth of a full-time undergraduate year. Modules may be developed as half or double modules with credit allocated up to a maximum of 120 credits per module. Modules studied at level 5 throughout the programme are: Year 1: > Business Management Techniques > Management in Industry > Quality Management Year 2: > Managing Project Risk > Programme Management > Project Management Applications PROGRESSION OPPORTUNITIES: Upon successful completion of the HND, you may choose to enter year three of the BA (Hons) Business and Management qualification at UCLan, to achieve a full degree. To progress, an additional application needs to be made. HOWWILL I BE TAUGHT? A wide variety of learning and teaching methods are used within the HND, including lectures, video presentations, case studies, role play and group discussion. Project simulation and both group and individual tutorials are also utilised. HOWWILL I BE ASSESSED? Assessment methods vary throughout the programme and include both formative and summative assessments. Formative assessments will comprise of class activities and practical tasks such as presentations, whilst summative assessment will be made up of a range of assignments and examinations.
