16-18 Destinations At Preston College our mission is to make our learners employable. Whether their career starts after college or university, we prepare them for their next steps through the combination of technical qualifications with industry placements so they develop the right skills and experience to progress successfully. Here are a few examples of our learners progressing to university, employment and apprenticeships. Olivera Destination > Employment Before studying at Preston College, Olivera attended school in Romania. Unsure of her career aspirations when she started, she has now secured employment at a local nursery. “I didn’t speak any English when I arrived at college. The teachers have been so supportive and I’ve gained qualifications in ESOL and Childcare. I have just finished my Level 3 in Early Years and I have been offered employment in the nursery where I did my work placement. I have enjoyed every minute of college.” Lily Destination > Employment Lily has successfully completed her Level 3 in Travel and Tourism at Preston College and progresses on to employment with Jet2 as Cabin Crew. “I am thrilled with my new job and can’t wait to start it. My course has helped me gain confidence and build up my knowledge of the industry. I have had the best support from positive, caring and motivated tutors.” Max Destination > Employment Following completion of his Level 3 in Film & Photography, Max has set up his own business working as a freelance photographer and videographer. Receiving additional support and advice from his tutors, Max already has a number of projects booked in. “I completed a work placement doing promotional work for a local theatre company. It helped me get an idea for how working in this industry would be, dealing with clients and briefs, and working around people to get appealing promotional photos and videos.” 18
