Eleanor Destination > University Initially enrolling to a plumbing course, Eleanor realised that this wasn’t the right career choice for her. Supported by staff, Eleanor transferred to the Level 1 Vocational Studies programme which gave her opportunities to experience different areas. She has now completed the Level 1 in Vocational Studies, a Level 2 and 3 in Media and is progressing to Edge Hill University to study Policing. “The Level 1 course supported me to develop different skills and I made lots of new friends. I have been through so many emotions over the years but I have come out the other side as a better person. I have met so many supportive people that have made a huge impact on my life.” Charlotte Destination > University Charlotte is progressing to the Manchester Metropolitan University to study Coaching in the Community. As part of her degree she will deliver coaching session at the Etihad Stadium. “When I applied for my degree course I didn’t think I would get in. It is so competitive and it is a top five university for Sport. I was so pleased to get accepted. My career aspiration is to become a PE teacher and this pathway will help me achieve my goal.” Daniel Destination > Apprenticeship Daniel studied Level 1 and Level 2 Plastering at Preston College and progresses onto an apprenticeship in Property Maintenance. Daniel has received support from the SEND team and the Communication Support Workers for his impaired hearing. “During my course I completed work experience with an employer who has offered me an apprenticeship in Property Maintenance. My tutors and the support team, alongside my work experience, have helped me to feel more confident to try new things.” Laura Destination > Apprenticeship Laura wasn’t sure what she wanted to do when she joined Preston College and had no destination in mind. Laura’s Level 3 in Applied Science has supported her in securing an apprenticeship that will allow her to progress to a HND in Science. “I really enjoyed my time at Preston College. The lessons are fun and enjoyable with plenty of practical work. The support from teachers is amazing, they will not let you fail and help you find what you want to do in the future. My apprenticeship was recommended to me by my teacher.” 19
