Employers Sponsor Scholarship Learners Scholarship Learners Over the past four years Preston College has delivered a successful scholarship programme for our learners across our full range of Level 3 subject areas; Health and Social Care, Professional Construction, Engineering, Digital and ICT, Aeronautical Engineering, Science, Sport, Travel and Tourism, Early Years, Performing Arts, Dance and Public Services; with one available scholarship per subject-area. The scholarship programme is a fantastic opportunity for learners who are able to demonstrate high aspirations of success in their chosen subject sector, alongside the motivation to work above and beyond their initial starting points. For many of our learners, personal circumstances often provide a barrier to the fulfilment of their aspirations, however, securing a scholarship can, for some, provide a real opportunity to overcome these difficulties. The scholarship programme acknowledges the dedication and commitment individual learners make to both their chosen subject and the wider college through the provision of a tailored package of reward, alongside the kudos of being aligned to the scholarship programme – an invaluable addition to CVs and UCAS applications. The package typically consists of: > Free travel pass for the course duration > £1,000 paid over a 2 year period > Free gym membership to the College gym > A branded and personally named hoodie Employer Opportunities As our curriculum continues to expand, we made the decision earlier this last year to offer local businesses the opportunity to sponsor a scholarship learner, or to contribute to the programme in other ways. This could be through the sponsorship of an individual or by offering guaranteed work experience opportunities, to shape and develop skills and nurture aspirations. Employer partners are able to witness the positive impact their support has on the development of the scholar, whilst also providing an invaluable contribution to the education sector. We are delighted that 4 of our local employers stepped forward and we are thrilled to announce that they are sponsoring five of our learners. Daniel Ross, Framework Manager at Rise Construction says: “Rise Construction Framework is a pro-social business based in the North West, operating across the North West, North Wales and Yorkshire & the Humber. Rise offers a compliant route way for public sector organisations to procure capital works and services whilst delivering truly life changing social impact. By investing a portion of all of it’s profits into intervention and prevention initiatives Rise is helping to change the lives of thousands of people across our communities. “Following the procurement of Walter Carefoot & Sons and Frank Whittle Partnership through the Rise framework by Preston College to deliver the Construction Skills Centre, Rise ring-fenced community funding to support the local community.
